Use the following techniques in any database to improve your results:

Searching for phrases
  "birth order"
  "stay at home"

Searching for various endings of a word (truncation)

    opera* will find opera, operas, opera's, operatic etc.

Use Boolean Operators to improve results

OR IS MORE
       nature  or  environment  either word will be retrieved

AND combines your topics            

         meditation  and  music*  both words must be in the result;     

 music and (brain or meditation)   to combine related terms 

Begin with keywords, move to formal Subjects

   Find a good source with keyword searching-->
        Click on Full Record--->
                 Look for Subjects or Descriptors to 
                  " find more like this"
