The following list is a selection of databases from the History Subject Guide.

America:  History and Life and Historical Abstracts can be searched together if you wish.

  • America: History and Life
    Subjects: History, social and cultural studies of the United States. and Canada.
    Contains: Abstracts to articles, books, and book reviews from prehistory to the present.
  • Historical Abstracts
    Subjects: History, social and cultural studies of Europe, and South America.
    Contains: Citations and abstracts to journal articles, books, dissertations from prehistory to current. Includes non-English language material.
    Coverage Dates: 1954 - present.
  • Iter Bibliography, Gateway to the Middle Ages & Renaissance
    Subjects: Indexes secondary sources covering European Renaissance (1300-1700) and medieval eras (400-1500).
    Contains: Citations for books and journal material (articles, reviews, review articles, bibliographies, catalogues, abstracts and discographies) are included, as are citations for dissertation abstracts and essays in books.
  • Feminae: Medieval Women and Gender Index
    Subjects: Women, sexuality, and gender during the Middle Ages.

  • New York Times (1851-2008)
    Subjects: National, International, editorial, business, and other stories found in the New York Times newspaper.
    Contains: Full text of NYT
    Coverage: 1851 to three years ago
  • Lexis-Nexis Academic
    Subjects: International, national and regional newspapers, law reviews, and U.S. federal and state law, codes, and regulations.
